ATHENS, Ga. - Georgia State (28-17) lost 11-1 in five innings Wednesday at No. 22 Georgia as the Bulldogs hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth.
Megan Litumbe hit her 10th home run in 16 games in the first inning Wednesday against the Bulldogs. Litumbe’s 44th career homer gave the Panthers a 1-0 advantage over Georgia.
Georgia responded to Litumbe’s long ball with six runs on eight hits and two errors in the bottom of the first. The Bulldogs kept it going with two more runs in the second inning after the Panthers left the bases loaded in the top half.
Georgia’s Alyssa DiCarlo ended the game in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run homer to right to invoke the run-rule.
Georgia State, currently in second place in the Sun Belt standings, squares off with first-place Louisiana this weekend in Lafayette. The Ragin’ Cajuns are ranked No. 17 in the country, meaning GSU will have played four straight contests against top-25 opponents.
