ATLANTA -- Georgia State pitcher Hunter Gaddis was named Tuesday by USA Baseball to the Collegiate National Team roster for the upcoming series against Chinese Taipei.

The Collegiate National Team opens international play with its 17th USA vs. Chinese Taipei Collegiate All-Star Series tonight (June 27) at 6 p.m. at Bill Coleman Field at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. The series continues through July 1.

Gaddis, a 6-5 right-hander and a rising sophomore from Canton, Ga. (Sequoyah High School), is the first Georgia State player to compete for Team USA. In the Collegiate National Team's four-game series against teams from the Coastal Plains League (June 20-25), he went 1-1 with 10 strikeouts in four innings.

Gaddis was the Panthers' top pitcher as a rookie with a 4-4 record and a 3.76 ERA in 2017. Pitching in the weekend rotation for the majority of the season, he led Georgia State with 67 strikeouts against 19 walks in 75 innings, and he held opposing hitters to a .227 batting average.

The final 24-man Team USA roster will be announced on July 2 prior to the sixth USA vs. Cuba International Friendship series, July 3-7 in Cary, Charlotte and Durham, N.C. Team USA will complete its 2017 tour with its 41st USA vs. Japan College All-Star Series, July 12-17 in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.
