What you need to know:

*Georgia State announced the 2017 women's tennis schedule Friday morning.

*The Panthers begin their fall season right down the street for the Georgia Tech Invitational beginning Sept. 22. The team travels to Athens, Ga. to compete at ITA Regionals from Oct. 19-23.  

*GSU will host the Piedmont Invitational at Piedmont Park over the weekend of Oct. 27.

ATLANTA – Head coach Jason Marshall announced the fall 2017 schedule for the Georgia State women’s tennis team Friday morning. The Panthers travel right down the road to Georgia Tech for their first fall tournament starting Oct. 22.

"The most important thing we have is a strong strength of schedule that gives us the opportunity to play many ranked teams consistently throughout the year,” Marshall said Friday. “This will be probably the strongest batch of teams we have ever played. The competition will prepare us well when we have to play the top teams in the SBC."

GSU also visits North Florida and the University of Alabama for tournaments before ITA Regionals from Oct. 19-23 in Athens, Ga.

Georgia State will continue the traditional of hosting a fall tournament over the weekend of Oct. 27. The Panthers welcome Air Force, Purdue and Chattanooga to Piedmont Park for the Piedmont Invitational.

The team returns seven of its eight players from last season including 2017 All-Sun Belt Singles First Team members Arina Taluyenko and Kristin Rehse. Taluyenko was also named the Sun Belt’s Player to Watch and led the team in both singles victories (15) and doubles victories (13).

The Panthers also sophomores Ilona Golynker, Anastasia Grosheva, and Damira Muminović as well as juniors Daniela Ramirez and Lara Vovk.
