ATLANTA- Following a week of preseason training, the Georgia State women’s soccer team will head to Charlotte, N.C., for the first of two exhibition matches on Monday to face Charlotte

The Panthers are a young team, with just under half of the roster being freshmen. The team returned 15 players from last year’s squad, and two transfers round out the 31-member squad.

Brie Haynes returns to the team as a fifth-year senior, ranking fourth in the country last season with nine shutouts and first in program history with 19 career shutouts. Suzanne Arafa and Siobhan Wilson will be back in the lineup after redshirt seasons, and last season’s leading scorer Brooke Shank will return for her sophomore year.

The 49ers will face the Panthers in their first exhibition match of the season before traveling to Virginia Tech for their final exhibition match. Charlotte won the Conference-USA title last season, and fell to Duke in the first round of the NCAA College Cup.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Transamerica Field.
