ATLANTA- The Georgia State men’s soccer team will face Lipscomb Saturday afternoon, closing out a two-match road stretch.
The Panthers are 3-1 on the season and are 1-0 on the road. The team most recently defeated No. 2 Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Tuesday, defeating the highest-ranked opponent in program history.
Junior Hannes Burmeister leads the team in goals with three, scoring twice against Mercer and once over the Demon Deacons. Senior Rashid Alarape is second the team in goals with two, including the game-winner over Wake Forest.
Both Burmeister and Alarape have fired six shots, with Alarape putting five on target for a .833 shots on goal percentage.
Georgia State has allowed just two goals in four matches, with senior Yannic Horn posting 13 saves. The Gross-Zimmern, Germany native earned a season-high nine saves against Wake Forest.
The Bison are on 2-2 this season and are on a one-match losing streak. The team fell at ETSU 3-2 in overtime in its most recent game but defeated SIU-Edwardsville 2-1 last Saturday.
The teams have met nine times, with Georgia State winning all nine matches. In the last matchup between the Bison and Panthers, Georgia State earned a 4-1 victory at the GSU Soccer Complex.
