ATLANTA- The Georgia State women’s soccer team will close out the regular season this weekend with two home matches, hosting Arkansas State Friday night and Little Rock Sunday afternoon for senior say.
The Panthers are 3-9-3 (1-5-2 SBC), tying their last match 2-2 at rival Georgia Southern Sunday afternoon.
Junior Yvonne Ploeg leads the team in goals with three, while three Panthers have two goals each this season. Junior Monique Hundley leads the team with 32 shots, with Brooke Shank and Alex Addington firing 21 and 20, respectively, this season.
Senior Brie Haynes has posted three shutouts for GSU, making 62 saves for a .747 save percentage. She has allowed 19 goals for a 1.52 goals against the average.
Arkansas State is 8-6-1 (4-4-1 SBC) and will come to Atlanta on a one-match losing streak. The Red Wolves sit at fourth place in the league, defeating Little Rock 1-0 in September.
The teams will meet for the fifth time in series history, with Arkansas State holding a slight 1-2-1 advantage. The Panthers and Red Wolves met just once last season, with GSU falling 2-1.
Little Rock enters the weekend at 7-7-2 (2-3-2 SBC), sitting at eighth place in the conference. The Trojans will face Georgia Southern on the road before heading to Atlanta.
The teams will meet for the sixth time in series history, with Little Rock holding a 1-3-1 advantage. The Panthers traveled to Little Rock, Ark. Last season, where they were defeated 2-1.
Kickoff against the Red Wolves is set for 7 p.m. while kickoff against Little Rock is set for 1 p.m., with senior day festivities occurring prior to first kick. Parking and admission to the GSU Soccer Complex is free.
