ATLANTA- The Georgia State women’s soccer fell to Arkansas State 2-0 Friday in the team’s final weekend of the regular season.
With the loss, the Panthers fell to 3-10-3 (1-6-2 SBC) while the Red Wolves improved to 9-6-1 (3-3-2 SBC).
GSU opened the match defensively aggressive, taking just eight shots in the first 45 minutes. Arkansas State got on the board early, with a deflected shot off a free kick hitting the back of the net at the 19-minute mark.
The Panthers looked to even the score coming out of halftime, but the Red Wolves put the game away quickly as they scored in the 46th minute.
GSU outshot Arkansas State 17-9, but five Arkansas State saves kept the team off the board. Junior Monique Hundley led the team with five shots, three of which were on target, while Siobhan Wilson fired three.
The Panthers will return to the field for their final match of the season Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Little Rock. GSU will honor its eight seniors, with the recognition beginning prior to kickoff.
