BOONE, N.C. - Freshman Lotte Meyberg finished seventh at the 2017 Sun Belt Championships Saturday at the State Farm Fields and Kennedy Cross Country Course in Boone.

Meyberg ran her fastest 5K of the season, coming in at 17:59 to finish in the top 10 and earn a spot on the All-Sun Belt team. Meyberg’s top-10 finish helped Georgia State to a sixth-place team finish out of the 12 schools competing.

Angela Alonso placed 27th and Lindsay Shealy was Georgia State’s third finisher, coming in at 37th.

“Very impressed with Lotte’s all-conference performance,” head coach Chris England said. “The young runners are eager to return next season and improve.”

The Panthers will be returning each of their top three finishers for next season.

Georgia State was awarded the 2017 Sun Belt Team Academics trophy Saturday for recording the best GPA in the conference among cross country teams.
