ATLANTA- The Georgia State men’s soccer team will open the Sun Belt Conference Tournament as the No. 2 seed, as announced by the conference office.

The Panthers are 11-6-1 (3-1-1 SBC) and are the runners-up in the regular season. The team’s only conference loss came from conference champion and tournament host Coastal Carolina, which defeated GSU in tough 3-1 loss to close out the regular season.

Georgia State outscored its conference opponents 10-4, shutting out Hartwick, Appalachian State, and Howard.

As the No. 2 seed in the tournament, the Panthers earned a first-round bye and will begin play Friday afternoon against either No. 3 Georgia Southern/No. 6 Appalachian State. If Georgia State faces Georgia Southern in the tournament, the winner will earn a bonus point in the Georgia State/Georgia Southern rivalry series.

Kickoff for the semifinals is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Coastal Carolina Soccer Stadium. Live stats will be available at GeorgiaStateSports.com. All tournament matches will be streamed on ESPN3.
