* The Panthers fell 2-0 to Coastal Carolina in the SBC Tournament finals Sunday afternoon.

CONWAY, S.C.- The Georgia State men’s soccer team fell to conference champion Coastal Carolina 2-0 in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, the Panthers fell to 12-7-1 while the Chanticleers improved to 12-6-1.

GSU opened the match in control of the ball, allowing Coastal Carolina to have minimal possession. The Chanticleers were able to get on the board first, scoring what proved to be the game-winner at the 30-minute mark.

The Panthers came out of the half looking for the equalizer, taking several chances to find the back of the net. The Coastal Carolina defense was able to stop Georgia State, holding the team to just five total shots. Junior Max Hemmings led the team in shots, firing two.

The Chanticleers put the game away in the 85th minute, scoring their second of the day.

Hannes Burmeister, Lukas Joyner, and Rashid Alarape were each named to the Sun Belt All-Tournament Team as voted on by the league’s head coaches.
