ATLANTA -- Penny Hart, the leading receiver in the Sun Belt Conference and a first-team all-conference selection for the second time, headlines nine Panthers named to the All-Sun Belt Conference teams, announced Wednesday.

Hart is just the second Panther to earn first-team All-Sun Belt honors twice, following receiver Robert Davis in 2015 and 2016.

Joining Hart on the All-Sun Belt team are a quartet of third-team honorees in cornerback Chandon Sullivan, linebacker Michael Shaw, defensive lineman Marterious Allen and running back-receiver Glenn Smith, who was chosen as an all-purpose player.

Quarterback Conner Manning, safety Bryan Williams, defensive lineman Julien Laurent and offensive guard Shamarious Gilmore were named honorable mention All-Sun Belt.

R-Sophomore, Buford, Ga.

Earns first-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors for the second time (2015 and 2017).

Leading receiver in the Sun Belt with a school-record 73 receptions for 1,094 yards and eight touchdowns.

No. 8 in FBS in receiving yards (99.5 per game) and No. 12 in receptions (6.6 per game)

Broke his own school record with 191 yards receiving on eight catches in win at Georgia Southern, including the game-winning touchdown on a spectacular 9-yard catch in the corner of the end zone with 2:31 left.

Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 16, 2017) after he had 11 catches for 190 yards receiving with three touchdowns of 50, 25 and 22 yards in win at ULM.

Four games this season with 130 or more receiving yards.

With 1,094 yards this season, Hart is the first Panther to record two 1,000-yard seasons.

After just 26 career games, Hart has amassed 152 receptions for 2,254 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Starting defensive end who leads the team with four sacks.

Named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week after he tied GSU single-game record with three sacks in win at ULM, helping the Panthers set a school record with seven sacks in the game. Also recovered a fumble at midfield to set up a touchdown.

Key part of a front seven that held three teams under 100 yards rushing and was the last FBS team in the nation to allow a 100-yard rusher this season (Game 10).

Made five tackles with a sack in win at Coastal Carolina.

Career-high seven tackles in win at Texas State.

Helped the GSU defense hold four opponents to two touchdowns or fewer.


All-Sun Belt (third team): MICHAEL SHAW, LB
R-Junior, Suwanee, Ga.

Three-year starter at outside linebacker who is Georgia State's career leader in tackles for loss with 25 while ranking third in 7.0 career sacks.

Has 49 tackles with six tackles for loss, three pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery on the season.

Key part of a front seven that held three teams under 100 yards rushing and was the last FBS team in the nation to allow a 100-yard rusher this season (Game 10).

Helped the GSU defense hold four opponents to two touchdowns or fewer.

Had seven tackles with two TFL as he helped the Panthers hold South Alabama to a school-record 41 yards rushing in the 21-13 victory.

Had five tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss in shutout win at Charlotte.

Recorded a sack and then a shared sack on consecutive plays in the fourth quarter of win at ULM.

Forced and recovered a fumble at the GSU 21-yard line in the fourth quarter of the Panthers’ 21-17 win at Georgia Southern. Also had seven tackles and a pass breakup.

Sr., Warner Robins, Ga.

Averaging 115.5 all-purpose yards per game (fourth in Sun Belt), including 131.9 yards per Sun Belt game.

Team’s leading rusher with 521 yards and three touchdowns and second-leading receiver with 43 catches for 342 yards and one TD.

Averaging 25.4 yards average on kickoff returns with one TD.

One of only three active players in the nation with 1,000 yards rushing, 1,000 yards receiving and 1,000 return yards in his career.

Career-highs of 98 yards rushing and 205 all-purpose yards in win at Texas State. Had five catches for 45 yards and three kickoff returns for 62 yards.

Rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns on a school-record 31 carries in win at Charlotte.

Returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown at Coastal Carolina. Also rushed for 74 yards on 23 carries and caught three passes for 13 yards for 201 all-purpose yards.

Scooped up a fumble and returned it 28 yards for a score on the game's first play in win over Georgia Southern.

Has 42 tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery for a touchdown and five pass breakups on the season.

Noseguard who anchors a Georgia State defensive line that held three teams under 100 yards rushing and was the last FBS team in the nation to allow a 100-yard rusher this season (Game 10).

Blocked a PAT, the second of his career, vs. Texas State that proved to be a key play in Georgia State's three-point win. Also had a tackle for loss in the victory.

Had 1.5 tackles for loss to help Georgia State earn the first shutout in school history at Charlotte.

Helped the GSU defense hold four opponents to two touchdowns or fewer.

Named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District team.

Named a Manning Award Star of the Week, a Davey O’Brien Award “Great 8” and a nominee for FBS Football HERO of the Week for his performance against ULM, when he led the school-record 670 yards of total offense and their highest point total vs. FBS team. Completed 26 of 35 passes for 446 yards, the second-highest single-game total in GSU history, and threw four TD passes in 47-37 win.

Executed fourth-quarter comebacks in back-to-back road wins at Georgia Southern and Texas State.

Passed for 319 yards on 22 completions in win over Georgia Southern and hit Penny Hart from 9 yards out for the winning touchdown with 2:31 to play.

Threw for 368 yards and rushed for a career-high 60 yards in win at Texas State. Touchdown throws of 34 and 71 yards, both to Devin Gentry. Directed 7-play, 75-yard drive for the winning touchdown with six minutes left.

6-Senior, Miami, Fla.

Veteran safety and team captain who is the first sixth-year senior in Georgia State history after missing nearly two full seasons (2013-14) due to back surgery.

Tied for second in the Sun Belt with four interceptions, which is the GSU season record.

Third on the team with 57 tackles.

Made two interceptions, both in the end zone, in shutout win at Charlotte, leading the Panthers to the first shutout in school history.

In back-to-back games vs. Troy and South Alabama, he grabbed an interception on the game's first drive to set up a GSU score.

Intercepted South Alabama on game’s second play and returned it 30 yards to the 8-yard line to set up a touchdown. Helped the Panthers hold USA to a school-record low 41 yards rushing in the 21-13 victory.
