ATLANTA – Georgia State’s softball team defeated Georgia Tech 5-2 Wednesday at the Bob Heck Softball Complex behind a complete game by Kinsley Jennings in the circle.

Jennings allowed two runs in the first inning to the Yellow jackets before settling in and retiring the final 13 batters of the game to pick up her second win on the season.

Down 2-0 in the first, Georgia State ripped off three straight doubles that brought in a pair of runs and evened the score at 2-2. Reagan Morgan started things off with a line drive over the center fielder’s head. Ivie Drake then brought home Morgan with a double to left-center and Megan Litumbe scored Drake on another double to left-center.

Drake’s RBI moved her into sole possession of second place on GSU’s career RBI list with 163. GSU’s all-time career RBI leader is Callie Alford with 170.

Brenna Skalski reached base in the bottom of the second, stole second base and then scored on a throwing error to put GSU on top 3-2.

GSU capitalized on another Georgia Tech error in the bottom of the third, scoring two runs on two hits to go in front 5-2.

Jennings recorded seven strikeouts and gave up just three hits over seven innings.

Georgia State leaves Thursday for Auburn, Ala., to play in the Tiger Invitational. GSU will face Delaware and St. Francis on Friday and Saturday before playing No. 13 Auburn on Sunday.
