ATLANTA- GSU Beach is back in the Sunshine State this weekend for four duals at the Seminole Beach Battle in Tallahassee. The event is GSU’s penultimate regular season tournament, and will see State battle three conference foes.

The Panthers will kick things off Friday morning against TCU in their only non-conference matchup of the weekend. Georgia State will look to use the momentum gained from last Friday’s epic 3-2 win over the Horned Frogs that saw Annika Van Gunst and Teegan Van Gunst defeat TCU’s top pair in three sets under the Miami moonlight.

GSU will then take on three CCSA rivals, beginning with UAB Friday afternoon. Saturday sees the Panthers battle UNCW and Florida State. Georgia State defeated the Seahawks 4-1 in early March, but fell to the Seminoles by the same score in the season’s opening weekend. Friday will be the first meeting of the season between Georgia State and UAB.

“This week in practice we’ve focused on developing each pair’s strengths in effort to play to our standard this weekend”, said head coach Beth Van Fleet. “We are hungry, and we are eager to get back in the sand.”

The final two weeks of the season will be crucial, as State will play five of their final eight regular season duals against CCSA opponents. The Panthers are looking to improve on an 18-7 overall record and a 5-5 conference mark.

Through 25 completed duals, Georgia State holds an impressive 83-42 record in individual matches, including a 19-6 mark in the third flight. GSU went 4-0 in the three spot last weekend with Georgia Johnson and Olivia Stasevich picking up wins over Tulane, TCU, and FIU, and Kate Novack and Amie Held notching a win over Grand Canyon.
