ATLANTA,GA- No. 11 Georgia State beach volleyball is headed to Louisiana for their final tournament of the regular season this weekend. The Panthers will face a trio of familiar foes in No. 7 Florida State, TCU, and tournament host No. 8 LSU; as well as a new challenge in the University of New Orleans.
GSU will kick off the Battle on the Bayou Saturday afternoon taking on conference rival Florida State. The Panthers lost to the Seminoles in the first week of the season, and the rematch scheduled for last weekend was cancelled due to lighting in the area.
State will face off against LSU in Saturday’s nightcap. GSU is 2-0 against the CCSA rival and will be looking for a season sweep over the Tigers. The Panthers defeated LSU 3-2 on two occasions in March.
Sunday will see Georgia State meet New Orleans before battling TCU in the rubber match of a season series tied 1-1. The Panthers bested TCU 3-2 in Miami, but dropped last week’s dual against the Horned Frogs 4-1 in Tallahassee.
GSU is hoping that the number two pairing of Tiffany Creamer and Brooke Weiner can replicate their perfect performance from last weekend. The duo went 3-0 at the Seminole Beach Battle, and is 10-3 in the two spot for State this season.
Georgia State will enter the weekend with a 20-8 record and a 7-5 mark against CCSA teams. The 20 wins are the fifth most of any Division I school in beach volleyball. It is the third straight year that the Panthers have eclipsed the 20 win mark.
