LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Georgia State's Ivie Drake was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-South Region First Team on Thursday. Drake is the only Panther in school history to be named to the first team more than once with the 2018 selection marking the third such honor of her career.

Drake, the 2018 Sun Belt Player of the Year, now qualifies to be named an NFCA All-American which is announced May 30.

Drake was also named to the All-South Region First-Team in 2015 and 2017 and was an NFCA All-American in 2015.

The senior catcher led the Sun Belt Conference this year in home runs, RBI, batting average, slugging and total bases, ranked second in on-base percentage and walks and ranked third in hits and fourth in both doubles and runs scored. Among NCAA D-I players, Drake ranked 22nd in batting average, fourth in home runs, 12th in OBP, fourth in RBI, sixth in slugging, fifth in total bases and 19th in walks at the time of the award voting.

The NFCA awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association’s 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams.
