ATLANTA-Coming off a second-straight appearance in the Sun Belt Championship final, the Georgia State men’s soccer team announced its 2018 schedule on Monday afternoon. The challenging schedule includes three-straight matches against 2017 NCAA Tournament teams to get the year underway.

“This will be a schedule that challenges us early with three-straight 2017 NCAA Tournament teams to begin the season,” head coach Brett Surrency said. “With so many freshmen on the team, the preseason will be very important for us and it will be a great experience getting three exhibitions in prior to the regular season opener. Per usual, we expect the Sun Belt to be very competitive and we will need to be quite good in the league to achieve our goal of becoming champions.”

Georgia State will face Truett-McConnell (Aug. 11) and North Florida (Aug. 14) in exhibition matches at the GSU Soccer Complex before traveling to Jekyll Island to square off in an exhibition match against Jacksonville on Aug. 18.

The regular season will get underway at Central Arkansas on Aug. 24, before another road game at Louisville on Aug. 28.

The Panthers will open the home portion of the schedule on Sept. 1, hosting Lipscomb, and remain at home to face UNC Asheville on Sept. 4.

Georgia State will return to the road for matches at Winthrop on Sept. 8, and Belmont on Sept. 11, before a home game with Presbyterian College on Sept. 15.

The Panthers in-state rivalry with Mercer will be renewed in Macon on Sept. 22, before GSU returns home to face Santa Clara on Sept. 29.

Sun Belt Conference play will begin on Oct. 6, as the Panthers travel to Appalachian State, before returning home for a three-game home-stand.

Georgia State will host former conference foe Stetson on Oct. 9, before another Sun Belt match-up with Howard on Oct. 13. The home-stand will conclude with Gardner-Webb on Oct. 16.

The Panthers will travel to Statesboro to face in-state rival Georgia Southern on Oct. 20, before a road game at South Carolina on Oct. 23.
