ATLANTA – The Georgia State men’s tennis team was named as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic team for the 2017-18 school year and four Panthers earned Scholar-Athlete honors, the organization announced Tuesday.

Andrei Andrukhou, Andrei Duarte, Steven Huynh and Bailey Showers all earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for the Panthers for their efforts in the classroom.

Between the four student-athletes, there have been two previous ITA Scholar-Athlete honors awarded and six dean’s list honors as well as three president’s list honors.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2017 and spring 2018).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a student-athlete must be a varsity letter winner who has been enrolled for at least two semesters and achieves a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the academic year.
