ATLANTA-Men’s soccer senior defender Lukas Joyner netted two goals in GSU’s 3-1 victory over Winthrop Saturday night at Eagle Field and has been named the Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week.

Joyner hit the equalizer in the 50th minute off a cross from Kwaku Adu-Boahene and scored again in the 58th minute to give the Panthers a two-goal advantage. Joyner’s two goals helped GSU secure a three-game winning streak for the sixth straight season.  

The Macon, Ga., native ranks tied for second in the Sun Belt for the most goals in a single match with two. He also leads the Panthers in total goals scored with two. Joyner had one shot on goal in Georgia State’s 1-0 victory over UNC Asheville on Tuesday.

Georgia State will look to extend its winning streak to four-straight matches on Tuesday traveling to Nashville to face Belmont at 6 p.m.
