*GSU begins its fall schedule this weekend at the Gamecock Invitational hosted by South Carolina
*The Panthers will have eight players competing
*Tournament play starts at 8 a.m. Friday and concludes Sunday afternoon
ATLANTA – Georgia State men’s tennis is set to begin its 2018 fall tournament slate this weekend, kicking things off at the Gamecock Fall Invitational hosted by South Carolina.
The Panthers will have eight different individuals competing this weekend in both singles and doubles play, a great opportunity to get much of the roster some valuable experience early in the year.
Quentin Coulaud, Giles Hussey and Roberts Grinvalds will open play in the Flight A Singles bracket for GSU. Grinvalds, the five seed, will take on 28 seed Mateo Julio of Purdue while Hussey, the six seed, faces 27 seed Murphy McCullough of Georgia Southern. Coulaud faces seven seed Yancy Dennis of South Carolina.
Georgia State’s Diego Padilha will face No. 1 seed Beau Pelletier of South Carolina in the opening round of the Flight B Singles bracket. Also in the Flight B Singles bracket is Jack MacFarlane, who as the No. 7 seed takes on 26 seed Javier Renones of ECU. Bailey Showers will face 12 seed Blake Croyder of Georgia.
In the Flight C Singles bracket Patrick Lazo, the four seed, opens with a match against Georgia’s Sam Dromsky as the No. 29 seed. Andrei Duarte is the two seed and will take on 31 seed Vance Mercer of Presbyterian.
MacFarlane and Hussey will lead the Panthers in doubles play as the duo opens as the fifth seed in the Flight A Doubles bracket. Also in Flight A Doubles is Grinvalds and Duarte as the 14 seed. In the Flight B Doubles bracket, Coulaud and Lazo are the No. 9 see while Showers and Padilha are the No. 11 seed.
The tournament begins Friday morning at 8 a.m. and concludes Sunday afternoon.
