*GSU continues its fall tournament slate this weekend at the Mercer Gridiron Classic

ATLANTA – Georgia State men’s tennis continues its fall tournament schedule with a trip to Macon, Ga., this weekend to compete in the Mercer Gridiron Classic.

The Panthers will have four different individuals competing this weekend, including Kevin and Steven Huynh who will be making their 2018 fall tournament debut. Also competing for GSU will be Andrei Duarte and Patrick Lazo.

Georgia State will have both of its doubles teams in the Flight A bracket, with Duarte and Lazo opening with a matchup against Drew Lahey and Bryan Triana of Kennesaw State and the Huynh brothers taking on Octavio Tamola and Alvaro Conesa of Mercer. First round matches in the Flight A Doubles bracket begin Friday afternoon.

In singles play, Duarte and Kevin Huynh will kick things off in the Flight A bracket while Steven Huynh and Lazo are set to play in the Flight B bracket.

Duarte will face Guillermo Agost of Jacksonville State in round one while Kevin Huynh will square off against Zak Talic of Coastal Carolina. Duarte, a sophomore from Atlanta, looks to build off the success of GSU’s opening fall tournament after making it to the semifinals of the Flight C Singles bracket in the Gamecock Fall Invitational.

Lazo opens the Flight B Singles bracket with a matchup against Fernando Bernardes of USC Upstate while Steven Huynh takes on Mercer’s Carver Arant. Lazo won his first two matches in the opening fall tournament before falling in the quarterfinals.

The tournament begins with singles play at 8:30 a.m. Friday morning and concludes Sunday afternoon.
