ATLANTA - New head coach Gene Hill will get to see his team in action for the first time Friday as the GSU women's basketball team hosts Shorter for an exhibition game Friday at 7 p.m. at the GSU Sports Arena.
For the game on Friday, Georgia State has partnered with Panther’s Pantry which provides meals to at-risk students facing financial difficulties and inadequate access to food. Admission to the game is free and does not require a ticket, however, fans are encouraged to bring canned goods. Seating for these games will also be general admission.
Friday’s contest can be heard live on 94.1 WSTR-HD2 with John Morgo. Live statistics and live audio will be available at GeorgiaStateSports.com and on most mobile devices.
Georgia State will have a lot of familiar faces this season as the roster boats eight seniors, including Kierra Henry and K.K. Williams who have a combined 3,488 career minutes of court time for the Panthers.
Four starters return from last season's team and Jada Lewis, who missed all season due to injury, is back in the lineup. Lewis was the 2016-17 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year.
New to the 2018-19 squad is the coaching staff. Hill came to GSU in April and will get to see his new team in action for the first time Friday.
Although Friday's exhibition is free to the public, season tickets can be still be purchased for the remaining home games by calling 404-413-4020 or by visiting GeorgiaStateSports.com/Tix. Georgia State's home Sun Belt games this season will be played at 6 p.m. on Thursdays and at 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
The 2018-19 home opener and first regular season contest will be next Wednesday at 11 a.m. against UNCG at the Sports Arena.
