ATLANTA - K.K. Williams led Georgia State to a 73-51 win over Shorter Friday night at the GSU Sports Arena. Williams scored a team-high 17 points in GSU's lone exhibition contest.

"It was great to get out there and compete against another team in a game day setting," new head coach Gene Hill said. "We did some things well, but as is common at this point in the season, there are several things we need to work on in practice this week to get better."

Georgia State used an 18-2 run in the first quarter to lead Shorter 29-15 after the first 10 minutes. Williams made three 3-pointers in the first quarter to fuel the offense.

The Panthers were slowed in the middle two periods but used another big run in the fourth quarter to pull away and win 73-51. GSU outscored the Hawks 22-6 in the fourth quarter.

Four Panthers finished with double-digit points and Walnatia Wright led the team in rebounding with six.

GSU was able to force 23 turnovers and won the rebounding battle against the Hawks 33-28.

The Panthers are set to begin the regular season next Wednesday at home against UNCG. That game will tip at 11 a.m. in the Sports Arena. For tickets, visit GeorgiaStateSports.com/Tix.
