NEW ORLEANS - The Sun Belt Conference announced today the 15-member All-Sun Belt women’s basketball team and individual honors. Voting for the individual awards and All-Sun Belt teams were conducted by the league’s 12 head coaches along with a selected media panel.

Allison Johnson was named the 2018-19 Newcomer of the Year and All-Sun Belt Third Team. Jada Lewis was selected All-Sun Belt Second Team.

Johnson averaged 13.1 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game during Sun Belt play. She helped GSU to a win over Sun Belt co-champs UTA scoring 17 points including the game-winner on Jan. 3. She totaled 19 points in a win over 3-seeded Troy and scored 17 at Texas State.

Jada Lewis, the 2016-17 Freshman of the Year, picked up right where she left off after missing nearly all of last season due to injury. Lewis is GSU's leading scorer heading into the postseason at 14.2 points per game. She ranks ninth in the Sun Belt in scoring. Lewis hit several big shots for the Panthers in clutch situations this season. She led Georgia State past Troy with 20 points including the game-winner with 16 seconds left. On Feb. 28 at Arkansas State, Lewis hit a deep 3-pointer to give GSU the lead in the final minute. She then scored the game-winning layup with 2.4 seconds left after the Panthers had trailed by nine with less than five minutes to go. The redshirt sophomore scored double digits in 21 of 27 games. Lewis is GSU's assists leader and is second on the team in steals. In the Sun Belt, she is tied-seventh in 3FG made, 10th in steals and 14th in assists. Lewis is second in Sun Belt play in FT% and she leads the league in minutes played per game.

The Panthers will play their first game in the Sun Belt Tournament Thursday at 12:30 p.m. ET against either Appalachian State, Arkansas State or Coastal Carolina.

All games of this year’s Sun Belt tournament will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and the WatchESPN app, with the Championship game airing on ESPN3.
