ATLANTA - Georgia State accepted an invitation to the Women's Basketball Invitational and will face North Alabama in Florence, Ala., Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.

The Panthers will play in the postseason for the first time since 2002-03 as head coach Gene Hill continues to raise the bar in his first season at the helm.

Georgia State's 17 wins this year are the most since 2003-04. GSU won seven more conference games this year than last. Only four teams in D-I had a better win improvement in conference play in 2018-19.

The winner will advance to the next round on either March 24 or 25 to face the winner of Southern Mississippi and Nicholls State contest.

Now in its 10th season, the WBI is a 16-team post-season tournament in which all of the games are played at home sites.
