*Georgia State won 4-2 over South Alabama Sunday afternoon in Peachtree City.
*The Panthers will return to Peachtree City for the opening round of the Sun Belt Tournament on Thursday.
ATLANTA-Georgia State defeated South Alabama 4-2 Sunday afternoon in Peachtree City, Georgia. The win moves State to 10-12 on the year and 5-5 in Sun Belt matches. The Panthers were powered by singles wins from Andreea Stanescu, Damira Muminovic, Eva Chivu, and Damira Muminovic.
With the win Georgia State capped off a perfect 3-0 weekend after yesterday’s pair of wins over Troy and Emory. All six Panthers contributed at least one singles win over the three match stretch.
South Alabama would take the doubles point winning on courts one and three. State would bounce back as Eva Chivu won in straight sets on the number one singles court. The Panthers would take a 2-1 lead via a two-set win from Damira Muminovic.
South Alabama would even the match 2-2 winning on court six in two sets. The teams would split sets on courts two, four, and five pushing each match to three sets.
With the win, Muminovic finished off a perfect 3-0 weekend on singles court three for GSU. The junior has won four straight decisions and 11 of her last 12 matches.
Georgia State will be right back in Peachtree City on Thursday for round one of the Sun Belt Tournament. Seeding and schedule times have yet to be determined.
