ATLANTA -- Bailey Showers went a perfect 4-0 over the weekend to help Georgia State men’s tennis capture the 2019 Sun Belt Regular Season title and has been named the GSU Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Showers helped Georgia State lock up the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament for the fourth consecutive season by going undefeated on the week. The junior went 2-0 at the No. 4 singles position and 2-0 at the No. 3 doubles position, while improving to 7-1 in doubles play with partner Quentin Coulaud.

Showers defeated his Georgia Southern opponent in straight sets in singles after cruising to a 6-2 win in doubles with Coulaud. He followed that performance with another win in straight sets against Middle Tennessee and remains unbeaten with Coulaud at the No. 3 doubles position after the duo rolled to a 6-4 victory on Sunday.

The Atlanta native has racked up 18 overall wins this dual season and owns the third-highest winning percentage (.667) at the No. 3 singles position among all players in the Sun Belt.

GSU will take the court next against No. 8-seed Appalachian State in the Sun Belt Championships Friday, April 19 at the Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Ga.
