ATLANTA- Georgia State beach volleyball’s Maddy Delmonte, Eden Hawes, and Olivia Stasevich will participate in the U.S. Beach Collegiate National Team Camp this week in Los Angeles, Calif. The three Panthers will join 13 other elite collegiate players from across the country. The Collegiate National Team Program is considered a tryout for the U.S. Women’s Beach National Team.
Throughout the week the athletes will train and compete against the top beach players in the United States. The Collegiate National Team will also study film and have classroom sessions with some of the sport’s top pros. The program is reserved for the top eligible student-athletes with at least one year of collegiate eligibility remaining.
Delmonte is coming off a stellar first season that saw the Virginia native earn CCSA All-Freshman team honors. Maddy recorded 23 wins on the season and was the only freshman to participate in every dual for GSU. All of Delmonte’s 23 victories came in the top two flights.
Eden Hawes was a staple at the top of State’s lineup playing with Delmonte and Georgia Johnson. The sophomore won 24 matches, including 13 of her final 18 with Delmonte. Eden and Maddy teamed up to go 3-1 at the CCSA Championship, defeating the top pair from No. 3 Florida State and clinching a quarterfinal victory over FAU.
Olivia Stasevich won 20 matches, participating in all but two of State’s duals in 2019. The rising senior primarily played with Delmonte and Johnson, but also won in the two spot with Ashley Bauchert. Stasevich helped the Panthers win their pool in the CCSA Championships with victories over South Carolina and Tulane. The Georgia native has tallied 56 wins in just three seasons of play.
“We are proud that Olivia, Maddy and Eden have been selected by USAV to attend this prestigious training camp,” said GSU coach Beth Van Fleet. “They are working with talented beach players and coaches from other programs to build their skill sets and help grow the game.”
