Morehead, Ky.- The Georgia State volleyball team fell to Presbyterian 3-0 (23-25, 23-25, 23-25) in the Eagle Challenge Finale. After this weekend’s play, Georgia State holds a 3-3 record on the season.
Georgia State trailed at the beginning of the first frame by as much as six points. The Panthers capitalized on Presbyterian attack errors to tie the game late in the set. However, consecutive kills from Presbyterian secured the 25-23 first set win
The Panthers jumped to a quick lead to begin the second. Despite the large lead, Presbyterian went on a 7-2 run. Georgia State once again fell in the set 25-23.
In the third the Panthers battled from a five point deficit to knot the game at 21. The match continued to go back and forth for the remainder of the match. Ultimately, the Panthers could not stop the outside attack and fell 25-23.
Meisheia Griffin notched double-digit kills and held a .421 hitting percentage. Madelyn Ott recorded four blocks, the most on the team. Ott also contributed eight kills. The senior’s performance over the weekend earned her All-Tournament Team honors.
The Panthers take the road again next weekend. Georgia State will travel to Birmingham, Ala. to face University of Alabama, ETSU, and host UAB. For more news and notes follow @GeorgiaStateVB on Twitter.
