ATLANTA – Georgia State women’s soccer is set for a two-match road trip this weekend, as the Panthers travel to Conway, S.C. to square off against Coastal Carolina on Friday night before taking on rival Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga. on Sunday.

SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA

◊ Coastal Carolina returns to the pitch after falling to Louisiana 3-1 in a match that was shortened due to lightning on Sunday. Hannah Miller scored the lone goal for CCU.

◊ Miller and Sunny Sigurvinsdottir lead the Chanticleers with four goals each through 12 matches.

◊ Coastal Carolina ranks second in the Sun Belt in shots per game with 13.45.

◊ Friday will be just the fifth all-time meeting between Georgia State and Coastal Carolina. GSU owns a 3-1 record against the Chanticleers, including two wins over CCU in 2018.

SCOUTING GEORGIA SOUTHERN

◊ Georgia Southern hosts South Alabama Friday night before taking on the Panthers on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles will look to snap their two-match losing streak, most recently coming off a 4-1 defeat at Troy on Sunday.

◊ Senior forward Frida Brattum leads Georgia Southern with six goals and one assist for 13 total points. Brattum has three game-winning goals this year, tied for the most among all players in the Sun Belt.

◊ The Eagles rank fourth in the conference in assists per game (1.30) and sixth in goals per game average (1.40).

◊ Sunday will be the 24th all-time meeting between Georgia State and Georgia Southern. The Panthers lead the series 13-7-3 but lost the most recent outing 2-0 in 2018 at the GSU Soccer Complex.   

LAST TIME OUT

◊ Georgia State went toe-to-toe with one of the top teams in the conference in Arkansas State last Friday, playing to a 0-0 draw and shutting out a Red Wolves team that entered the weekend ranked third in the league in goals scored.

Lily Barron, Maria Howell and Brooke Shank led the Panthers with two shots apiece on Friday.

◊ Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Triplett finished with three saves and recorded her first shutout of the season against Arkansas State.

Jimena Cabrero leads GSU with three total goals and six points through 12 contests. Her three goals are all game-winners, tied for the most among all players in the Sun Belt.

◊ Senior midfielder Brooke Shank leads the team in total shots with 16, followed by Cabrero with 15 and Lily Barron and Jolie Ryff with 10 apiece.

◊ Georgia State has had seven different players net a goal through 12 matches.
