ATLANTA--Georgia State freshman designated hitter Ryan Glass was named National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball newspaper after hitting three home runs and a walk-off single to lead the Panthers to three victories in four games last week.

Glass is Georgia State's second National Player of the Week selection this season, following Nick Gatewood on April 9, and the seventh since 2013. The Mableton, Ga., native (Woodward Academy) is the first Panther freshman to earn a National Player of the Week award.

For the week, Glass was 5-for-15 with three homers and five RBI.

But his biggest hit of the week was a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Panthers to a 3-2 victory over Appalachian State on Senior Day. With runners at second and third and one out in the bottom of the ninth, App State intentionally walked Nick Gatewood to get to Glass, who smacked the first pitch for a single through the left side to plate the winning run.

That single also extended his hitting streak to nine games.

Glass opened the week by hitting a solo homer to help Georgia State to a 7-4 victory at Atlanta-area rival Kennesaw State.

On Friday, with Georgia State holding a 2-0 lead over Appalachian State, he blasted a two-run homer to extend the lead and send the Panthers to a 4-2 victory.

Glass, who stands 6-4 and 220 pounds, hit another solo homer, his seventh long ball of the season, in Saturday's one-run loss to the Mountaineers.

Glass' seven homers on the season are the most by a Georgia State freshman since 1997 and include a homer in his first collegiate at-bat in the Panthers' season-opening win over Bradley. He also has seven doubles and 19 RBI in 39 games.
