NEW ORLEANS – Former Georgia State cross country and track standout Nuria Ramirez was named a recipient of the Sun Belt Conference Postgraduate Scholarship at the league's annual honors celebration event Monday night in New Orleans.
Georgia State was honored with the Overall Student-Athlete Graduation Rate Award for the third time in four years.
“This recognition shows the commitment of our coaches and student-athletes to our strategic goals,” GSU Director of Athletics Charlie Cobb said. “I’m also extremely proud of Nuria for earning the postgraduate scholarship. She epitomizes what it means to be a great student-athlete and represents everything we are about at Georgia State.”
A native of Palma, Spain, Ramirez competed with GSU’s cross country and track & field teams. She earned three All-Sun Belt selections and won the 800m at the 20168 Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field Championships. She will be receiving a $6,500 scholarship in June from the Sun Belt. A first-generation college student, Ramirez is currently pursuing a Master's degree in biology at Georgia State with the goal of obtaining a Doctorate degree.
