ATLANTA – Georgia State men’s tennis will compete in the Chapel Hill Regional of the 2020 ITA Kick-Off Weekend, scheduled for Jan. 24-27, 2020. Joining the Panthers at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center will be host-UNC, Old Dominion and Elon.

GSU elected to participate in the Chapel Hill Regional with the 45th pick in the men’s Kick-Off Weekend Draft on Thursday afternoon. Two-seeded Georgia State, ranked No. 65 in the final ITA Division I team rankings, will take on three-seed (No. 66) Old Dominion in the opening round, with the winner taking on top-seed (No. 7) North Carolina or four-seed (No. 73) Elon in the regional final.

The 12th annual ITA Kick-Off Weekend will feature 60 teams at 15 hosts sites across the country. The winner of the single-elimination regional will advance to the National Team Indoors in 2020.

The Panthers, who claimed the Sun Belt’s inaugural Regular Season Championship this spring, finished the 2019 season with a 17-10 overall mark after falling to South Alabama in the SBC Tournament Finals 4-1. Despite the loss, GSU’s 17 wins were tied for the fifth-most team wins in a single season in program history.

The full-length Georgia State men’s tennis schedule for the 2020 season will be released at a later date.
