ATLANTA – Senior midfielder Brooke Shank of Georgia State women’s soccer was selected to the 2019 Sun Belt Preseason All-Conference Team, the league announced Thursday afternoon.

Shank enters her senior season as one of the top scorers in the league, as the Cedar Park, Texas, native netted six goals last year – the second-most among all returning players in 2019. She also finished inside the top-10 of the Sun Belt in shots (48), shots per game (2.53), total points (13), goals (6) and goals per game (0.32).

On top of her individual accomplishments, Shank helped her team reach the Sun Belt Conference Tournament for the first time since 2015 last season and supplied the Panthers with the game-winning goal in their first-round upset over Coastal Carolina.

As a team, Georgia State was picked to finish fifth in the league as voted on by coaches around the conference. Texas State was chosen as the preseason favorite with six first-place votes and 108 total points.

GSU kicks off its first exhibition of the preseason on Monday, Aug. 12 against Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tenn. The Panthers round out the preseason with a home exhibition vs. Presbyterian on Aug. 17 then open the regular season at Vanderbilt on Aug. 22.
