ARLINGTON, Texas- The Georgia State women’s tennis team dropped its second conference match of the season with a 4-1 loss to UT Arlington Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Panthers fell to 7-7 overall (0-2 Sun Belt) while the Mavericks improved to 7-5 overall (1-0 Sun Belt).

GSU had a chance to take a 1-0 lead, but dropped the doubles point in the No. 2 match after splitting the first two matches. Kristin Rehse and Damira Muminović defeated Angeles de los Rios and Jessica Birowski 6-4 in the No. 1 match, but Tarani Kamoe and Arina Taluyenko fell 7-5 to go down 1-0 to the Mavericks.

In singles play, the Panthers fell in the No. 5 and No. 6 matches to put UT Arlington up 3-0. Taluyenko earned the lone point for Georgia State, defeating Astrid Gehre 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 2 match. The freshman leads the team in singles play, going 11-2 on the season.

The Mavericks clinched the win in the No. 4 match as Anastasia Grosheva fell 6-1, 6-3.

The Panthers continue league play against Troy and Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga. on March 25 and 26. First serve against the Trojans will be March 25 at 8 a.m.
