LOUISVILLE, Ky.  - Georgia State’s softball team recorded the 26th best team GPA out of 295 Division-I programs as the Easton/NFCA Academic Team rankings for the 2016-17 school year were announced Tuesday.

With a 3.494 team GPA, the Panthers landed in the top-30 of the NFCA’s rankings for the second year in a row. GSU had the second-best GPA among Sun Belt schools in the rankings, which covers the previous school year (2016-17). At the Sun Belt Conference banquet at the conference tournament last spring, the Panthers were honored as the best academic squad in the conference for the 2016 calendar year.

On Oct. 10, the NFCA will announce its Scholar-Athlete recipients. Student-athletes with GPA’s at or above 3.5 will receive the honor.
