ATLANTA -- A school-record six Georgia State student-athletes in five sports were name to Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams in the 2017-18 academic year, putting the GSU program among the national leaders.
Georgia State is tied for eighth nationally with six Academic All-Americans®, trailing Alabama (11), Stanford (10), Minnesota (9), Oklahoma State (9), Drake (8), Navy (8) and West Virginia (7).
Four of the Panthers' six Academic All-Americans® earned first-team status; only Oklahoma State (6) and New Mexico (5) had more first-team selections than Georgia State.

The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is administered by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). CoSIDA began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors.
Currently, CoSIDA sponsors Academic All-America® programs for men's soccer, women's soccer, football, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball and men's and women's track and field/cross country. Many other sports are eligible through the At-Large program.
