ATLANTA- Annika Van Gunst, and sister Teegan Van Gunst were named to’s All-American Team, as announced by the website over the weekend. The duo was 13-8 in 21 matches together this season, and combined for a 45-23 record in individual matches.

The sisters were in the lineup for 34 of Georgia State’s 36 duals. Teegan played all 34 matches in the number one flight for the Panthers, 21 with Annika and 13 with Tiffany Creamer. Annika Van Gunst played her first 13 matches in the number two flight with Brooke Weiner.

The Van Gunsts cruised to 10 two-set victories, and did not drop a single set in four wins at the GSU Beach Complex. The twins also excelled in close matches, going 3-1 in three-set affairs, including a three-set win over Pepperdine’s Brook Bauer and Madalyn Roh who were also named to VolleyballMag’s All-American team.

The success of Annika and Teegan often pushed the Panthers to victory. State was 12-1 in duals in which the Van Gunst sisters won their match. Four times the twins earned the clinching point in a 3-2 dual win.

Individually, Annika earned a 23-11 record while playing in the top two flights. Wins over pairs from LSU and South Carolina propelled Annika and Weiner to the AVCA Pair of the Week Award in early March. Teegan compiled a 22-12 record, playing all 34 matches in the number one flight, and picked up a win with Creamer over All-American Tory Paranagua of Florida State.
