ATLANTA -- Several members of the Georgia State baseball, women’s basketball and track teams visited an area children’s hospital on Friday, Sept. 14.

The group went to Children’s HealthCare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, off Johnson Ferry Road, to provide some fun relief and support to the children who are patients at that facility.

Georgia State student-athletes do this regularly as part of the department goal for the GSU athletes to spend more than 5,000 community service hours.

The facility at Scottish Rite has a sports motif play room for the patients where they can play board games, work puzzles, build with lego blocks, use video games, or just sit and chat. The Kids Zone also has a small outdoor play area for light games, as well as a little golf putting. It serves to help kids just be kids and do the things all kids like to do, even when a physical ailment or injury may get in the way of “normal.”
