* SCHEDULE UPDATE: Georgia State and Troy will conclude their series with a doubleheader Saturday, beginning at 2 p.m. There will be no game Sunday.

ATLANTA -- Georgia State fell 10-6 in its series opener against Troy Friday night at the GSU Baseball Complex.

GSU starter Hunter Gaddis (1-5) struck out nine in 6.2 innings, but Troy (18-16, 6-7 Sun Belt) hit three solo homers, two of them by Rigsby Mosley.

Georgia State (10-24, 2-11) jumped in front in the first inning as Daino Deas singled and scored on a double by Brandon Bell.

Troy got on the scoreboard in the fourth, scoring two on Chase Smartt's two-run single. The Trojans extended their lead to 3-1 on Mosley's homer in the fifth inning.

The Panthers pulled within one at 3-2 in the sixth as Deas again led off with a single, then stole second, moved to third on Griffin Cheney's single and scored on a sacrifice fly by Elian Merejo.

With two outs in the seventh, Mosely and Drew Frederic hit back-to-back solo homers to put the Trojans up 5-2. GSU answered in the bottom of the frame with a two-out rally. Josh Smith singled to left, and the ball was misplayed by left fielder, allowing Smith to move to third before Dalton Davies drove him in with a single to right center.

Troy pulled away with a run in the eighth and four in the ninth before the Panthers scored three in the bottom of the ninth for the final margin. Smith had an RBI double, and then Davies and Deas drove in runs with groundouts.

Davies had two RBI for the Panthers, while Deas, Smith and Luke Leonard each had two hits. GSU totaled 11 hits in the game.
