ATLANTA- Georgia State volleyball signee Eliza Zachary is a newly crowned international champion.

Zachary's Northern Lights (Burnsville, Minn.) club squad traveled to Italy with Bring It USA and captured the 18-2 championship with a perfect 6-0 record over three days. They defeated a field that included Australia, Sweden, Serbia and host Italy to claim the club's first-ever title in such an event.

The April tournament was played in the coastal town of Falconara over Easter weekend. The team also made stops in Venice and San Marino.

Zachary is a 6-foot-2 middle hitter who ranks as one of the top players in Minnesota, earning MaxPreps volleyball awards for her top-150 national hitting percentage.

Zachary also helped lead club team to first place at the AAU Nationals in their age group and the Colorado Crossroads title. She's earned back-to-back all-conference honorable mention honors in guiding her high school team to two straight 20-win seasons, racking up a personal-best 19 kills in one match.

She is expected to enroll in the fall with GSU's six additional freshman signees for the 2012 season, when the Panthers look to reach their second consecutive Colonial Athletic Association tournament under head coach Tami Audia.
