After Day 2, Moore Advances to Quarterfinals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.  — After two days of competition at the NCAA East Regional track meet, Tamara Moore has advanced to the quarterfinals of the 100m hurdles.

The Most Outstanding Track Performer at this year’s CAA Track Championships, Moore qualified for the event quarterfinals by running 13.52 to place seventh in her heat and 27th overall out of 48 competitors.

The top three individuals from each heat advance as well as the next nine top times overall. Competition in the women’s 100m hurdles quarterfinals will take place on Sat., May 26 at 7:20 p.m.

Angelia Nugent will also compete Saturday in the preliminary round of the women’s triple jump. The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. with Nugent as the sixth jumper in the first flight of competitors.

Senior Charlesha Lightbourne withdrew from the 200m dash with a leg injury. The prelims of the women’s 200m took place Fri. May 25.

The top 12 finishers in all events advance to the NCAA National Championships in Des Monies, Iowa on May 6-9. Last season, Nugent was the Panthers’ lone representative in the national meet.
