Nowacki Named CAA Player of the Week

ATLANTA — Georgia State third baseman Paige Nowacki was named the was named the CAA Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

The senior belted six home runs and registered 14 RBI to lead the Panthers to a 3-1 record at the Panther Invitational on Feb. 16-17.


Nowacki maintained a .462 batting average over the four games to go along with a gaudy 1.846 slugging percentage and a .529 on-base percentage. She now leads the team in home runs (6), RBI (14), slugging (1.040) and total bases (26).

With 26 homers in her career, Nowacki now sits in sole possession of third place on the school home run list. Nowacki entered the weekend in seventh place after hitting 10 homers last season. The senior needs only six more home runs to tie the school record of 32 set in 2011 by former-teammate Lauren Jones.


The McDonough, Ga. native set school record marks for most home runs over a four game stretch, most home runs in a tournament and has already tied the record for most multi-homer games in a single season.


Nowacki was named the CAA Player of the Week twice last season and once more in 2011 for a total of four conference weekly honors in her career.


Georgia State travels to Auburn, Ala. for their first midweek game of the season this Wednesday, Feb. 20.
