ATLANTA - The Georgia State men's golf team saw four members of the squad earn academic honors following the spring semester, led by team captain Jared Cagle earning President's List recognition.
Cagle, who is currently working towards a masters in sports administration, earned the distinction for having a GPA higher than 4.0. The fifth-year student played in five tournaments this past season and plans to work with the team in the fall as he finishes his second degree.
Along with his top-notch work in the classroom, Gruca also earned All-CAA First Team and CAA All-Tournament Team honors this year. He was the only member of the squad to play in every event this year, which he has now done two years in a row.
Overall, Georgia State student-athletes maintained a combined cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 for the eighth consecutive semester, and 158 Panthers earned academic honors.
The GSU student-athlete population posted a semester GPA of 2.94 for the spring, including nine teams over 3.0, putting the Panthers' cumulative GPA at 3.03.
An all-time high 31 student-athletes earned Georgia State's highest academic distinction by making the President's List, signifying a semester GPA of 4.0 or higher with at least nine credit hours.
Combined with 17 honorees last fall, Georgia State boasts 48 student-athletes on the President's List during the 2011-12 year.
Another 52 student-athletes earned Dean's List recognition for the spring, signifying a semester GPA of at least 3.5, and an additional 75 Panthers were named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll with a semester GPA of at least 3.2. All individuals earning academic honors are listed below.
