ATLANTA--Georgia State running back Donald Russell has been named Colonial Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week after his record-setting day in the Panthers' 41-7 victory at Rhode Island.

The senior from West Palm Beach, Fla., rushed for a school-record 201 yards on 21 carries. He scored on touchdown runs on 45 yards--his longest scoring run in a GSU uniform--and six yards and added a 35-yard touchdown reception.

In addition to his rushing record, he becomes the first Panther to score three touchdowns in a game, and his total of 236 all-purpose yards is also a GSU record.

Russell now leads the CAA in rushing at 106.1 yards per game. He averages 6.5 yards per carry.

He has topped 100 yards in four of the Panthers seven games this season and six times in his two seasons.

Russell is the Panthers' career rushing leader with 1,408 yards and 12 touchdowns.

He is Georgia State's second CAA honoree this fall. Punter Matt Hubbard was selected as Special Teams Player of the Week on Sept. 3.

Russell and the Panthers host Villanova for Homecoming Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Georgia Dome.
