ATLANTA-After nearly 70 minutes of scoreless action, a goal by No. 1-seed Coastal Carolina led the Chanticleers to a 1-0 win over No. 3-seed Georgia State in the Sun Belt Men’s Soccer Championship on Sunday afternoon at the GSU Soccer Complex.
Georgia State, which advanced to the conference championship game for a second year in a row, couldn’t take advance of 17 shots and five on goal, while GSU goalkeeper Yannic Horn finished with five saves.
Georgia State finishes its season 14-8, while Coastal Carolina improved to 9-6-3 and will advance to the NCAA tournament via the Sun Belt’s automatic bid.
Jair Espinoza put Coastal Carolina on the board with an unassisted goal with just over 22 minutes remaining.
Georgia State had multiple shots near the net in the final few minutes, but could not find the back of the net.
