ATLANTA- The Georgia State men’s soccer team will open up its road slate at No. 2 Wake Forest Tuesday night.
Following a 1-0 loss to No. 11 Louisville last Friday, the Panthers are 2-1 this season. GSU has allowed just one goal, shutting out Mercer and USC Upstate during opening weekend.
Junior Hannes Burmeister leads the team in goals early in the season, scoring twice in the 2-0 victory over Mercer. Junior Max Hemmings and senior Rashid Alarape have also scored for Georgia State, with Hemmings scoring the game-winner over USC Upstate. All three student-athletes lead the team in shots with four each.
Senior Yannic Horn has posted four saves so far this season for a .800 save percentage and a .333 goals against the average.
Wake Forest is 3-0 this season, playing twice at home during opening weekend and once on the road. Georgia State will be the team’s last non-conference opponent before it opens ACC play.
The Panthers will meet the Demon Deacons for the fifth time in series history. GSU holds a 3-1 series advantage, with Wake Forest earning a 5-0 victory in the team’s last meeting in 2015.
