ATLANTA- Following a 0-0 double overtime draw against Sun Belt foe Appalachian State Saturday night, the Georgia State men’s soccer team will head to Charlotte, N.C. for its final non-conference match of the season.

The Panthers are 10-4-1 (2-0-1 SBC) and are undefeated in their last five matches. The team is in first place in conference standings, ahead of the other five teams by at least four points.

GSU has continued to be an offensive powerhouse, outscoring its opponents 26-11 this year. In its last five matches, the team has scored 12 goals.

Rashid Alarape leads the team with eight goals, while Hannes Burmeister is close behind with six goals. Senior Salomon Lorenzano and junior Liam Fitzsimmons tie for first on the team with three assists each.

The defense has done an impressive job of containing its opponents, only allowing three goals in the past five matches. Senior Yannic Horn has posted 41 saves for a .804 save percentage and a .64 goals against the average.

Charlotte is 5-4-4 this season and will host Georgia State after tying its last match. The 49ers are just 4-2-2 at home, tying South Carolina in their last home match.

This will be the seventh time the two teams have faced each other, with GSU holding a 5-1 advantage. The last time the teams met was in 1986, with the Panthers earning a 3-1 victory.
