ATLANTA- The Georgia State men’s soccer team will head to Oneonta, N.Y. for its final road contest of the season at Hartwick Saturday night.

The Panthers are 10-5-1 (2-0-1 SBC) and sit at first place in the conference standings after victories over rival Georgia Southern and Howard and a 0-0 double overtime draw against Appalachian State.

The Panthers are looking to bounce back following a tough 4-3 overtime loss at Charlotte Tuesday night. The match was the first October loss for the team, with two matches left in the regular season.

GSU has the top scoring offense in the Sun Belt, with senior Rashid Alarape and junior Hannes Burmeister scoring half of the team’s 29 goals. Alarape ranks 22nd in the nation and second in the conference for his nine goals this season.

The defense has held its opponents to just 15 goals this season, with senior Yannic Horn ranking first in the conference with six shutouts. Several defensive players have stepped up in the last part of the season, with Nick Hague, Lukas Joyner, and George Proctor each scoring their first goals in October play.

Hartwick is 7-7-1 (2-1-0SBC) this season and will host Georgia State on a one-match losing streak. This will be the final home match for the Hawks, who will close out the season at Howard.

This will be the fifth time in series history that the Panthers will face Hartwick, with the Hawks holding a 1-3 series advantage. The two teams met once last season, with GSU earning a 4-0 shut out at home.
