ATLANTA – Georgia State men’s soccer notched its second consecutive win after shutting out UNC Asheville 1-0 Tuesday night at the GSU Soccer Complex. Aris Briggs’ lone goal of the match proved enough to put the Panthers back in the winning column for the second time this season.

Georgia State moved to 2-2-0 on the year, bouncing back from an early 0-2 start. UNC Asheville fell to 1-3-0 overall and dropped its second match in a row.

GSU led the charge early with seven total shots and five on goal in the first half. The Panthers scratched across the only goal of the night in the 28th minute when Max Hemmings booted an accurate pass to Briggs who finished with a header and gave GSU a 1-0 lead.

UNC Asheville rattled off four total shots in the first half and were held to only one in the second. The Bulldogs’ five total shots tied for a season low.

Georgia State junior keeper Paul Tyson earned his first shutout of the year and tallied three saves in Tuesday’s win. He is up to 14 total saves on the season, leading all Sun Belt goalkeepers.
