ATLANTA – Junior forward and Georgia State men’s soccer standout Aris Briggs was named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
Briggs finished the week with three total goals to keep Georgia State undefeated in the team's first three matches for the first time since 2010. He notched two goals in the 3-1 victory over Belmont last Monday, his second multi-goal performance of the season. Against UNC Asheville, Briggs fired a career-high eight shots and four shots on goal and hit the equalizer in the 84th minute to force overtime.
The Memphis, Tenn., native leads the Sun Belt in total shots (18), points (12), goals (6) and game-winning goals (2).
GSU gets a week off before returning to the pitch Tuesday, Sept. 17 for a road match against Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, N.C.
